Do the Worst First is a saying of businessman and author, Harvey McKay. It's from his great book, "How to Swim with the Sharks". This little motto helps me get on with my day instead of feeling like the Sword of Damocles is hanging over my head. Whether it's the crabby patient, disliked chore, or like today, organizing the documentation for our taxes, it feels good to cross off a dreaded item from the "To Do List". It amuses me that I am the one organizing our tax return for our accountant and in charge of the household accounts even though my husband is a CFO and much more adept at financial stuff than me. Alas, he has no time, so it falls to me and Thank Goodness for online banking and automatic bill payments.
Unfortunately, our oldest son has been sick these last few days. He is so sick of being sick, today he said he would rather be in school! He is finally getting better from the coughing and hacking. Poor kid.
I saw a double rainbow this afternoon when the rainstorms became a sunshower. Rainbows are captivating, they create a feeling of calm, wonder, and awe. I wish that for you today.
What's happening with you?

Aww! Poor guy, I just got back from taking my son to the pediatrician. The boy who rarely gets a cold now has his 4th illness in the last 3 weeks. Now I am sitting here eating my broccoli cheddar soup and baguette from Panera. Today was not very eventful with a sick boy and still being cold out. I did finally nail a tricky change in a logo that I've been obsessing over for a client. Amen!
Do the worst first. I'll have to consider that. But after I do some other more pleasant things.
Thanks for reminding me. It could always be worse.
It's been raining here and me and the kid were shown the rainbow love the other day. They are truly beautiful!
Ha! You know a boy is sick when he would rather be in school! Hope his wish comes true soon!
i am finally feeling better!! thanks so much for stopping by and checking in with me!! not only did i have a horrible headache, but my puter came down with a horrible virus!!! all in all it was just HORRIBLE!!! but it's all better now :).
Ugh! My hips hurt from the twins. I can't believe I'm only 1/2 way through. You mean it's going to get worse than this????
McKay - now there's a blast from my (corporate) past! I had that book *and* a companion tape!
I'm with your son-I'm sick of being sick!! We are supposed to be having nice weather this weekend, and I plan on enjoying it, dangnabit!
I hope he feels better soon and can get back to school.
Glad son is feeling better - hope he's back to himself soon. I get to do the taxes in the house and I'm glad that chore is over. Yuk! Double rainbow - how awesome!!!
Oh my goodness...a double rainbow? That is awesome...never saw one myself. Isn't it moments like that you wish you had a camera always? I hope your son is feeling better soon, poor thing. Who the heck would rather be in school - he for sure is actually sick no doubt. I find it interesting what you say about doing the worst first..I'm going to try that today. I have to clean and do laundry and I'm starting with the bathroom, LOL! Lots of hugs to you and your family and I hope you're having a great week. Now if only I could suggest to do the worst surgeries in the OR first in the day instead of tacking them on to Friday afternoons, huh? But I'm a nurse and you know how the surgeons don't listen to us nurses :-)
