I have been calling people out all over town this last week.
First, I sent a letter to a community magazine regarding their use of the outdated term, "Male Nurse". (Blogged about in my post, "1909 or 2009?") I got a nice reply from the author of the article and she apologized and said her intent was never to offend those in the Nursing Profession. I was happy to welcome her into the 21st century.
Yesterday, I was stopped at a red light and watched while a school maintenance truck driver ran a red light and then proceeded to tailgate and weave his way through traffic. The school district has all their trucks numbered and I called their office and notified a supervisor of my observations. I don't like getting someone in trouble or Gasp, even worse, be a tattle tale, but C'mon buddy, your Truck number is emblazoned in Big, Bold letters for all the World to see, how could I not follow up?
Have you had to call anybody out lately?
Thank you, Martha

I like the way you think! Actually, just today I had to speak to The Comedian's teachers. It seems, the "heart jar" is full and since they are learning about bugs they thought it would be fun to watch 'A B.gs L.ife' as a reward.
Um...what? You are a public, play based, explore and investigate to learn program and you want to sit the kids in front of the screen for 90 minutes?
I could go on...but I think you get my point. It is my choice to send her or not...right? I may just keep her home that day.
Nope! I've wanted to many times, but then my Portuguese side gets the best of me. Although I do tend to turn a blind eye to things that involve me personally, I think that's because of all the training working with teenagers, I do get worked up when it affects a member of my organisation, i.e. somebody compaining about a doctor or a clinic. You mess with one of my girls and you're messing with me. I bet you had loads of fun chasing the truck driver. Good for you!
Yes, I called 911 twice cause my neighbor 2 doors away rides his 4 wheeler all over the neighborhood, on the sidewalk and in the middle of the street. We live in a very busy residential area (subdivision) near lots of business and industry and highways. Loaded with kids, pets, strollers, moms, etc. It's noisy and annoying cause he has those pipes on his muffler. He rides it for a few minutes, then puts it away before the cops can see him riding it. Then takes it out again later. If we lived in a rural area than it would be a different story but we don't. The cops hate this kid but still have not been able to catch him. It has woken LB up several times in the middle of his nap holding his hands over his ears and screaming. Rrrgghhhhhh!!!!!
I'm on a roll lately...I've been calling out my coworker, who likes to tell half truths and not admit to his mistakes. I've been calling out mom, who says obnoxious stuff and thinks it's just fine. Same with my husband. I gently called out my friend who was freaking out about the controlling doctors and nurses who are caring for her son in the NICU (she's a control freak, and she feels she's being ignored...not a good combo). Yep, I'm on a roll.
i love it:) calling people out. it is a good thing i'm not a cop, the state of delaware would make so much money from the tickets i would give out:) thanks for stopping by my blog and helping me get to my comment quota!
My husband saw a police officer throw a can from his car. He called and reported it, saying, "I was afraid someone had stolen a police car, because I can't imagine an officer would litter."
Today, I seriously debated calling a man out for completely ignoring the traffic pattern of the sidewalk. Look, buddy, during rush hour? The sidewalks of DC are just like a road. Stay on the right, don't stop suddenly, and god help you if you cut me off.
I've noticed the older I get, the more I find myself correcting a younger person's manners. I think I am well on my way to being the old bat in the housecoat yelling at the kids to quit playing on my lawn...
Good for you. Someone's gotta keep those district facilities people in check.
