Cleaning, decluttering, and purging my office of 9 years of accumulated stuff. It's humbling, I've put approximately 90 gallons of paper into the recycling bin. Hmm, about 10 gallons for every year. And that doesn't include the personal financial papers I am taking to be shredded. I regularly get rid of paperwork and dislike clutter, but my home office has become the Catch All for memorabilia, in addition to the home filing and financial center, disc jockey booth, workout and crafting room, and my professional work space. Decluttering and paring down requires so many decisions and the mind numbing sorting of what to Keep and File, or Donate, Discard, or Recycle. (And the Dusting!! How does it get so incredibly dusty INSIDE OF A Cabinet?!?) The hardest part, however, was getting started. Now that I am 75% finished, I am started to feel really great about the end result and I am looking forward to enjoying the results of my efforts.
In between sorting photos and bank statements, I am also posting about taking care of your "largest organ", (your skin), over at The Motivation Station today.
Thank you and please let me know what you've been up to...

Oh gosh. Yeah, we're purging as we pack to move. It's amazing the junk we've held on to.
I have the hardest time getting rid of old personal papers and financial records. I might need them someday! Sigh. But, every now and again, I just get irritated by the stack of stuff and purge.
Decluttering, a necessary evil!
We need to do the same for our office....might be the motivation I need...
And don't you feel better for getting rid of a load of stuff? It's great to de-clutter once in a while and nice to keep looking in on the finished results.
Congratulations on guest posting on another blog today.
I've been in my own world studying to take an exam for a completely different career, so my commenting and visiting has been almost gone.
Today I had to jump over to see what you've been up to and wow! Good job, cleaning and decluttering.
I won't call Clean House. Have you seen that show.
it feels so good when everything is decluttered and organized... its just getting to that point though!!!
very proud of YOU though for diving in!!!
good for you! that is a lot of work but it will be so worth it when you finish the next 25%
I de-clutter every time we move and we seem to move every 1-2 years lately so I don't accumulate that much but always a good feeling to have less paper if you don't need it
betty
Yes amazing where it all comes from. Thank goodness for recycling bins.
Wow, great job Martha!!! I really need to do that... we had a basement full of crap in St. Louis, and after moving out West where there are no such thing as basements, we've had junk everywhere around the house. I'm pretty sure I don't need the My Little Pony stable and horses I played with when I was four, especially now that I am having all boys. Need to find the time and the energy...
Great job!!
My pantry/craft room/ office is the catch all room. I have cleaned both the craft and pantry zones and am very happy. The office - the must mind boggling because it is so filled with paper - I keep putting off. Maybe if I add it to my calendar.
Good for you! Just wait for spring cleaning! :)
Way to go! I've been working on decluttering for quite some time now ... and suspect I'll be at it indefinitely since I've lived in this house for 30 years and am quite the pack-rat. The good news is that I no longer bring more stuph home so I am making progress!
Hugs and blessings,
Small Reflections
