Black Rose for Friday the 13th

Happy Friday the 13th to my fellow Non-triskaidekaphobiaites. In addition to Friday the 13th and the celestial alignment of 4 planets, my black roses are also in bloom. I love unusual roses like these black velvet roses and my Julio Iglesias roses*.

Do you have any favorite roses or flowers? Thank you very much.

Purple Flowers for Mother's Day

I extend my Mother's Day greetings to you and I hope you enjoy these flowers from my garden.

This is a sterling silver rose, my cousin had this type of rose in the bridal bouquet at her wedding where I met my husband. It has a very sweet smell which I love. To me, a flower without a scent, is like a pretty girl with no personality!

A new addition to the garden this year, I like the relief of white flowers next to the purple.

I love my irises, they are 5 years old and going strong.

Another new addition, they are called "bell"-somethings and are a welcome relief from petunias which bore me. (Sorry, petunia lovers).

This post is dedicated to Anna, a young mother and lover of all things purple, who will be missed this Mother's Day and is everyday.

Roses for the Color Carnival

Here are a couple pictures of my neighbor's roses for this week's Color Carnival. Roses are very self sufficient in California, you essentially plant them, water them once in awhile, trim the heck out of them a few times a year, and Off they go!!

Friday Flowers at the Color Carnival

Here is my entry for this week's Color Carnival, a photo meme to celebrate Color, Glorious, Vivid Color. This is yet another picture of flowers from a neighbor's garden on my quest seeking inspiration for my own garden. I love zinnias and California is the only place where I have lived that crysanthemums grow outside.

Friday Flowers at the Color Carnivale

Thank you to my new bloggy friend Martha from The Menagerie who invited me to play along with the Photo Color Carnivale. I hope you enjoy this picture of my neighbor's geraniums which have been blooming nonstop all Spring.
