Purple Flowers for Mother's Day

I extend my Mother's Day greetings to you and I hope you enjoy these flowers from my garden.

This is a sterling silver rose, my cousin had this type of rose in the bridal bouquet at her wedding where I met my husband. It has a very sweet smell which I love. To me, a flower without a scent, is like a pretty girl with no personality!

A new addition to the garden this year, I like the relief of white flowers next to the purple.

I love my irises, they are 5 years old and going strong.

Another new addition, they are called "bell"-somethings and are a welcome relief from petunias which bore me. (Sorry, petunia lovers).

This post is dedicated to Anna, a young mother and lover of all things purple, who will be missed this Mother's Day and is everyday.

I grew up in West Los Angeles and it is interesting that I first saw a sterling rose when I was a teen there. However, I had coral peach roses at my wedding. I agree that the sterling has the most wonderful smell. I am not sure if I have a sterling but we have a lavender rose bush now that smells great. I too love purple flowers and am fortunate to have them in my yard.
I am sorry about Anna.
Happy Mother's Day and I hope you enjoy it doing what you want to do.

This whole yard of mine is incredibly boring. I wish I had some of your pretties to perk things up!

Oh, beautiful flowers!!! Thanks for sharing them. I also love your technical names (bell-somethings...wonder if they'd know what I was talking about at Home Depot?) :)

Happy Mother's Day!

I agree that flowers must smell pretty AND look pretty!

So sad for Anna, but a nice rememberance.
