Today is our youngest son's first day of school, 6th grade to be exact. This is his last year of elementary school, next year he will go to Junior High School.
Tomorrow, our oldest son will start 9th Grade in High School.
Folks always tell you how fast it goes, how quickly your children grow up, and when it happens to you and your kids, it is like a blink of the eye. Didn't we just watch these children take their first steps and say their first words? And now, my oldest wants to join the High School Debate Team and my youngest is the Big Man On Campus.
Summer flew bye, childhood flies bye even faster. I keep hearing the song, "Sunrise, Sunset" from the musical, Fiddler On The Roof in my head.
Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly flow the days
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers
Blossoming even as we gaze
Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears
Mazel Tov, our sons for a wonderful school year. (Now, go do your homework.)

Yeah, it's hard at times to watch another Summer go by.
But on the other hand it's nice to reclaim the family room!
it really actually makes me sad how fast it goes... im worried that one day i'll wake and i'll be 85 yrs old!!
I can't wait until the kids I nanny for are back in school.....
While I definitely miss summer vacation, I don't miss back to school time. It was exciting when I was young, but once I got to college...sigh.
By the time my daughter hits school age, they'll probably want to go year round.
We're still waiting for the summer to start...
Time flies far too fast.
xxx
Yes, I try to savor every moment of time with my toddler! He is such a cuddly little guy, I close my eyes to remember to feeling forever.
Good luck to your kiddos this year!
I've always loved that song. It makes my Dad misty any time it's played. Now I know why.
Happy 1st day of school to your boys!
And my youngest starts kindergarten next week.
Awww...sweet post. It is amazing how fast the years pass.
(And I love, love, love your blog button!)
I remember those days and they do fly by so quickly and before you know it the babies have left the nest. Here's to a fabulous, fantastic school year.
WOW school already?
God, only knows where the time goes, not enough hours in the day. Now, do you know what you have done, you put that song into my head and it doesn't want to leave.
Coming by from CNOW (I adore acronymns!)...
I have a daughter in 6th. How interesting that your high school starts on a different day.
They really do grow up quickly...
Wow! They start early! Phoebe (our oldest) starts 3rd grade on the 31st. And you are so right, it goes by so quickly. I always cry when I hear the one song from Mamma Mia (movie version and I can't remember the name of the song) when the mom is helping the daughter get ready for the wedding. I have the soundtrack and I can't listen to that song if I have mascara on. It makes me think of Phoebe.
We were shopping for clothes for the boys and as I wistfully looked at the older boy clothes I reminded myself out loud that before I know it these babies will be taller than me.
Wishing your boys lots of luck and fun in the new school year!!!
What? School is starting already?
Yep, it goes very quickly. I hope your kids have a wonderfully successful school year this year.
That was the first musical I ever went to...brings lots of memories (good ones!).
Time goes faster and faster each year. I heard a saying once - life is like a roll of toilet paper - it goes faster and faster the closer you get you the end. Funny but so true!
My daughter is going into her last year of college, my oldest son a sophomore in high school and "the baby" is in 7th grade now.
I am not going to do well with an empty nest. I'm not looking forward to that at all! :-(
My elder son starts college next week, my daughter starts a different one the next week and the younger one has just started P7, his last year in primary school - I know exactly what you mean and I love the 'Sunrise, sunset' song it really struck a chord!!
How fast they grow right enough, we took a trip round the north of Scotland in a campervan this summer as we thought it's likely to be the last of everybody being able to come, it was very bitter sweet, lots of laughing too!!
