Big Week

This was a BIG week for me, so much so that my bloggy time took a major hit. Work, family, and home stuff really gets in the way of important things like blogging, doesn't it?? *Sigh*.

I Finally took the Case Management Certi.fication exam after studying for the last 6 weeks. I think I did well, I should know the results in a week or so. And if I Never take another standardized test again, that's OKAY. Actually, that would be really Good. Really, really Good. Oh, and please share your opinion re.communication techniques, which is the more effective interview skill, maintaining constant client eye contact or leaning forward slightly?? Yowzah.

My parents live in Rancho Bernardo, near Poway and the site of the murder of high school student, Chelsea King. They were on their way home during a candle light vigil for this child and were stopped at a intersection for thirty minutes while the hundreds of vigil attendees crossed the street. My parents didn't complain, (atypical of my mother btw), and my mom said, "It's terrible enough to lose a child to cancer like we did, but to violence, it's unspeakable and horrible." So true. Rest in peace, beautiful girl, our hearts goes out to you and your family.

On a happier note, our family went to see Bon Jovi last night at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. (My husband got all of us tickets for a Christmas present, is that cool or WHAT??) It was our sons' first Rock Concert and they loved it. Bon Jovi put on Great Show and man, they sound Good. It was really touching at the end of the show to see the band members embrace and express genuine appreciation and thanks to the audience. Jon Bon Jovi said, "I know it's not 1984 anymore and to still be filling up a stadium in 2010 is not something I take for granted." Right On, Jon and Thanks to all of the band for showing us the love and sharing your wonderful music!

I am taking today off to get ready for our annual community wide yard sale. In my little tract, we have about 400 houses and something like 100+ families participate in selling for this yard sale. We have been cleaning out toys and our garage for the last month and have lots of great stuff, so come on by! Plus, it will be a refreshing break from the weasels and whackadoodles that come out of the woodwork during these sales. Please Wish me luck and more importantly, Forbearance, so I don't deck anybody if they are ridiculous in their offers or try to steal. Grrr! This is why I don't Usually EVER, Ever do yard sales, it's so much easier on my nerves to just donate our castoffs to charity and not deal with these scumbags, but the timing worked out, so I will give it another try.

So how was your week? Big, Medium, or Small? Or maybe SuperSized? What are you up to this weekend? Thank you!

When my boss took the CCM exam, she said the same thing. I will NEVER take an exam again. I'm sure you passed with flying colors!

I took my middle son to his first concert a couple years ago: to Bon Jovi and Daughtry opened. It was a great time.
Good luck on the garage sale. I have had plenty. I get peeved when people want me to practically give it away to them. And then I get peeved at my husband for wanting to do so.

Yay! So glad your test is over! I'm sure you did spectacularly well. Constant eye contact is creepy, but consistent eye contact is good, and leaning slightly forward is a good idea.

I'm glad you enjoyed Bon Jovi, but I don't think I can take the noise of concerts anymore.

Good luck on the garage sale!

I've missed you! I'm glad your test is done! I have a congratulations thing to mail you on Monday!

I wouldn't do a garage sale for all the money in the world, I'm impressed with you. I hang useful stuff off my garbage cans, and it gets "recycled" but I imagine your neighbours would be lighting up K's Blackberry with emails if a scruffy looking person dared wander down the alleys!

Got anything suitable for a 3 year old in your yard sale (which I am guessing is like a jumble sale or a car boot sale)??

my heart breaks for the King family. we were down at North County Fair last weekend and most stores had a picture of her missing poster in their windows. It was so haunting to see her beautiful face and you just knew the outcome was more than likely going to be a bad one. they are in my prayers and I hope the scumbag that did this gets a speedy trial and the death penalty executed quickly.

good luck on the results of test! I'm sure you did just great!

clueless about appropriate interview strategies, most of my recent ones have been over the phone so can't help there

good luck with the garage sale. I have a very laid back approach to it all. I figure I'm going to get rid of the stuff anyway. Why not let someone take it away without me having to haul it down to Goodwill. So I put ridiculously low prices on things and usually sell out about 90% of my things within the first few hours. That sounds like a massive one though in your community! I'm sure you will get lots of lookie-lous through your neighborhood

how fun with the concert!! bet it indeed was a blast

Supersize here as usual! Good luck at the sale, I don't "do" yard sales either! Hope it all goes well and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on the test results too! I dislike tests and school as much as yard sales these days, LOL! Have a great weekend Martha. See you over at TMS :-)

A bit of a mixed post. You seem to have had a time of such highs and such lows. Hope you have had a good weekend and all went well.

A Bon Jovi concert is a great way to celebrate after a big exam. Sad about Chelsea ... hard to fathom. My week was much busier than usual and that's why I'm playing catch up on blog visits today.
Hugs and blessings,

Hope the yard sale went well - I'm with you I would much rather donate than go through the hassel.
I'm sure you did awesome on the test.

Busy, Busy! I know you passed the test Mrs. Martha Smarty Pants!
YAY for Bon Jovi!
I loathe organizing and hosting garage sales too. I have an ever growing pile of crap that is getting closer to Goodwill every day.

Can't wait to hear how well you did on the test!

Bon Jovi... so jealous!!!! :)

Garage sale thefts... really? Man so people.

Take care

I am not big on garage sales either, I much prefer giving to Goodwill. But we did have one before we moved out West, and we made about $400. It was nice to have the cash in pocket. I hope yours goes better than you expect!

We've been having busy times here with plays, baptisms and catching up on work once it's all over. I'm looking forward to us having a sitter this Saturday night and all going out!

Good luck on getting your test results and Bon Jovi is an awesome concert to go to. Congrats!
