Drabby: No makeup, nothing, just me and my pets enjoying the attention. (Sorry for my dog's immodest pose btw, he didn't know I was going to post this.)

Fabby: All dressed up for a luncheon with my dear friend. I've always loved boots and argyle sweaters.

I am thankful that I had skin cancer at the tender age of 28 y/o because it taught me to take care of my skin. I have worn high SPF sunblock for the last twenty years and I never leave the house, even to walk the dog, without it. I have sensitive, oily skin and have tried EVERY Sunblock made and I swear by Hawaiian Tropic Oil Free Faces SPF 30 and Mary Kay Day Solution SPF 25. (The Mary Kay product is so gentle it doesn't sting or burn even if you apply it right after showering, I kid you not!). Both sunblocks can be applied both under and over make up and Do Not Cause Break Outs. (It is less than attractive to be closing in on 50 y/o with Acne!) Most skin damage and aging occurs from accumulated UV exposure, even overcast sunlight. I apply sunblock two to three times per day during a regular day and about every 90 minutes if I am outdoors hiking or at the beach. I use Aveeno SPF 70 for the rest of my body and it also works great.
Thank you for stopping by and sharing in this rare transformation. Please let me know if you have any skin secrets you use to beautify and protect your skin, the biggest organ of the human body.

Hey Martha! You look GREAT!! Love that outfit! Thanks for the skincare tips! I have always been afraid to use sunblock for my face in fear of it causing my already acne prone skin more hassle! So I appreciate your feedback!!
I'm with you on the consistently Drabby (why wear make up?), but your Fabby picture is great!
My secret to skin care is staying out of the sun 90% of the time. I like the shade. I wear an SPF 15 moisturizer most days, but really, I just find some shade. I burn easily anyway, so it's just better that way.
"I am thankful that I had skin cancer at the tender age of 28".
Peculiar thing to be thankful for, but if you like, we can pray for you to develop cancer again
I don't think you were ever drabby, but you certainly were fabby!
I'm going to take your advice about those SPF products. I have never found anything I like that well so I appreciate this.
I stopped sunning about 10 years ago permanently and I hope I don't pay for the years of abuse prior to that. But, I keep watching my skin just in case.
My dad keeps having skin cancer popping up all over his big bald head poor guy. AND of all places they just retired to New Mexico a few years back. I am often a member of the no makeup club, though do not take as good of care of my skin as you do :( I have had major issues with makeup that have sun block in it so buy the regular makeup. I am REALLY oily and at the end of the day it is sliding into my eyes and burning?
Wow! Bow-chicka-bow-wow!
Love the boots! Thanks for the skin product tips!
OMG you are so surfer I could write an entire blog on my "skin" regime. I'm obsessed. But I don't think it is working so hot. Maybe doing a crazy peel next week I'll let you know! xoxo

Hey Martha!! You look so darn cute in your skirt and boots!!
You clean up nicely,if I might say so myself!
I love that you are so careful with your skin. We need more ladies like you. I am very much that way. As bad as I want that great tan, I just can't do it..I would rather be paste white, from head to toe than damage my skin so badly. Now if I could find this same passion, in regards to what I eat...hmm..
I see you have also been paid a visit by my 'friend' the detective, delightful isn't he? I had my SECOND visit yesterday - glad to know my blog is so bad he came back for another look.
Anyway I've enjoyed your blog, you are obviously very brave and your story quite inspirational.
Looking hot hot hot in your fabby pic Martha!!
how beautiful... in both though.. b/c i'm with blue violet.. you NEVER looked drabby!
You look beautiful in both pictures. I rarely wear make up and I love argyle. I am now completely making all of my skin care products - soap, toner and moisturizer. I do have to buy sun screen though and now I have some new ones to try. Thanks
You clean up quite nicely.... but then you are always fabby... I always use Oil Of Olay... :)
First, you are gorgeous!
Second, a great reminder to keep the skin protected. I am not so good at this -- I fool myself into thinking I'm safe because of 9 months of cloudy weather in Seattle. :/
I am getting my first total body skin check in December. I am a pasty vampire girl who always burns and never tans. Protecting the skin is a must!
My dad had melanoma years ago, and gets checked regularly. My husband had a basal cell carsonoma which had to be removed. They both are fine and didn't have any more problems, but they are SO careful now. I tell people all the time, and we use sunscreen on the whole family. My sister in law is so dark ALL year by visiting tanning booths. She's 20 years younger than I am and my skin looks younger than hers! Can you imagine?
Oh, and yes you look AWESOME! I love those boots:)
