Three Reasons my Hobbies suffer (including blogging)

Work - There is no shortage of patients whose problems need solving one phone call at a time. I wish I had paid more attention to my pysch nursing courses in college thirty years ago, because I sure use those empathetic listening skills and open ended questions out the wazoo now.

Play - Coronado Island in San Diego is delightful and the Hotel Del is an incredible landmark and architectural jewel. However, the Weather Gods Did Not Get the Memo about "Sunny, Warm Weather" for San Diego in July, and they sent us Bay area weather instead, that is, overcast and cool. It was great to get away, and a true highlight of the trip was to see the boys surf successfully for the first time, despite our youngest son getting stung by a sting ray.

More Play - I have been juggler of the boys' schedules, including, But Not Limited to - voice, dance, and guitar lessons, lunches out, visits to theme parks, basketball, swim team, and my own volunteer activities to support various endeavors.

My cup runneth over, how bout you??

Thanks so much, Martha

Hi Martha! Oh, I'm with you. The whole work thing really gets in the way with blogging. And we've been out and about playing too. That's always fun (when the weather cooperates!)

I love the Hotel Del! Been there to eat, but would love to stay there sometime.

Glad to see that you are keeping busy!

ouch on the sting ray! yea on Coronado; it is so pretty there isn't it? but you are right, we had a few days of cool cloudy weather (which was great not to run the air conditioner) but not good if you are vacationing!!

enjoy summer with your boys! blogs are always here waiting......

Well, you've seen me, so you know that my cup always runs over.

But, I was thinking of you, as I sit here on my exercise ball, typing on my computer.

Always good to hear from you, in between your work and play.

Sounds like your boys keep you more than busy!

Not especially busy, just uninspired! Since my girl is only 3, she's limited to one activity at a time, so we only have to go to dance class once a week. The rest of the time she spends testing her boundaries. That's a little exhausting...

Sounds like your summer has a lot of fun stuff (well, if you're vicariously enjoying your boys' activities!) mixed in with the work.

wow you're busy! I find my blogging lacks when we have guest in town. My husband works later then me, so that's usually my 'blogging' time, but with guests (like we have now) I'm on the computer at 11:00 at night, and ususally by the time I read all the new posts, I'm to tired to post myslef! (and I usually suck at commenting- but I commited to comment on EVERY blog that was on my update this time around! :) )

At least it isn't work, work, and work! I'm glad you're getting to play. Enjoy!

Yes, life has an awful habit of getting in the way of blogging.

Yes, you are speaking my language with the work and the play, but it is a good place to be. So great about the vaycay and the surfing!

Never enough time. I see the summer slipping away from me. I have started my c25k training and it's going well. I started the 2nd week today. Good times. But there are always too many chores to keep me relaxing this summer.

So much for me to look forward to as DS gets older!!

Sounds very similar to my cup - work, vacation and family scheduler/coordinator of all activities. And I'm penciling in the beach and a few good books.

Yes, work and family life keep me from my hobbies a lot too. Hang in there. Yesterday I was thinking that I don't understand when my daughter would have time to do any summer reading, when she's already almost as busy as she is during the school year.

I so understand... work, summer fun and trying to work on my decluttering for TMS... today I started my closet and son3's room... son2 decided to start filling out job applications online... took him three hours to fill out one calling me every question, lol... school will be starting soon and we will be wondering where the summer went... :)

I am glad to hear your boys do dance as well. I made a random comment about J's first dance class on FB last week, and got some very rude comments. Why would someone say such things about a 2-yr old who just likes to move and sway?

We are super-busy here too!
