Michael and Bubbles "I Don't Get It" Art for Almost Wordless Wednesday

During our family's recent visit to the Los Angeles County Art Museum, we not only got to see Jeff Koons' Blue Balloon Dog, but also his "Michael Jackson and Bubbles" sculpture. It's garish, sideshowish, and more than a little sad, kind of like the subject himself, may he RIP. Bubbles too. On that front, it's successful, even with the aversion factor, because it engaged us. Things that make you go hmmm.

And for all your background hunters like me, on the left is Warhol's Campbell Soup painting, to which my kids were like, "What the heck??"

Anything make you go hmmm lately? Thank you so much.

That's...just...creepy.

Here's what made me go hmmmm...before I burst into laughter: My daughter said, "Mom do you want to know what we learned today? We learned how to respond calmly when people are making us mad!" Me: "Oh, really? That sounds good. Like what?" My daughter (very matter-of-factly): "Mom, please stop hitting me."

Hmmmm. Let me see. I know plenty of things have made me go hmmmmm but I just can't think of anything right now. Oh, wait. Check out my post today. It made me go hmmmmm. No, actually, it make me go, "Are you freaking kidding me?"

Wow! And I love the Campbell's soup can in the background. The whole thing says "Odd Pop Art" to me.

I work with a catering company and we worked many gigs in the Warhol Museum last year. I cannot tell you how many "hmm" moments we had, like the art of Ron Mueck. Google him and you will see what I am talking about. He does true to form sculptures that are HUGE and a few that are really small, but very lifelike. The one of a baby out of the womb was a little unnerving.
