Even though I now telecommute, I still relish a good cup of coffee first thing in the AM. The essential ingredients to brewing a good cup of coffee are high quality coffee, (Kona, Sumatra, and Jamaican Blue Mountain are some of my favorites), cold filtered water, a generous measuring spoon, and the Right Tools. In this case, a Krups electric kettle for boiling water, my insulated non breakable French Press (made for camping, yields 4 cups), and, for entertaining, the Mr.Coffee Thermal Carafe coffee maker for up to 8 cups.

Mr.Coffee makes a fine pot of coffee, but to get the best tasting coffee Ever, a French Press can't be beat!

Open refrigerator, grab bottle/can of Mountain Dew, drink.
Much simpler than all that cold filtering and french pressing!
Oddly, I do not like to drink anything that is brewed (coffee, tea, beer).
I don't have any fancy tools nor have I ever ground beans and I like Dunkin Donuts coffee (don't like Starbucks--too bitter) but I love it in the a.m. too. Haven't always had coffee but enjoy it the past two years.
i don't really do the fancy tools either.. we have a keirug and a push button coffee maker (and yep! we use both.. like you, we are some serious peeps when it comes to coffee)...
important tools that i CAN think of.... AWESOME COFFEE... love cafe verona- pike place (my new fave)- kona- and sometimes.. just plain old folgers... oh yea! and we ALWAYS drink it black!!!
oh jeeeeeez.. now i'm sad i don't have any coffee beside me!!!
I can attest that you make awesome coffee.
After my last coffee maker failure, I went the french press route.
Ah, coffee! I love everything about it (well except maybe the caffeine). I love fresh ground beans and a french press.
My coffee is a bottle of Diet Coke!
Not a coffee drinker myself, after almost 24 years of marrisge, Husband dearest informs me I still can't make a decent cup - I'd love to blame the tools of the trade.
I am not a coffee drinker, but I am a tea snob. Looseleaf tea made in a french press is THE best.
thanks for stopping by my blog and saying hello, dear martha!! it is wonderful to hear from you again and i am so sorry i have been such a bloggy-friend. hopefully when school starts, things will calm down and i can catch up ... i have thought of you frequently and hoped you are well. keep drinking the coffee!!! xox... annie
I love the reference to using paper towels as filters. I think it's something that should be taught in nursing 101. It's as essential as knowing how to start an IV. I loved this post. Our outpatient preop always has way better coffee than the main OR which is actually just down the hall. I always hit the outpatient preop since the coffee is better during my afternoon break. The nurses over there are seriously talented in the coffee making skills, LOL! If you were closer I'd let you make me some coffee anytime!
great cup of coffee!
Oh now I want coffee! luv luv luv
